As the incoming Obama administration brazenly claims the mantle of Thomas Jefferson, it is important to remember the bedrock principles of conscience of the third president. An Obama administration has already promised legislation to force faithful Catholics and evangelical Christians to pay for abortions and even perform them at the threat of losing their jobs. The President-elect has also pledged to force conservative members of labor unions to pay, without a vote, for the political activism of the unions' Democratic bosses. It's retribution time for the Obamamaniacs. But what did the founder of the Democratic Party, Thomas Jefferson have to say about this kind of abusive taxation to punish those you disagree with:
To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves, is sinful and tyrannical.
