Conservatives, in their frustration at the many missed opportunities of the Bush administration, are losing sight of how draconian the feel good Obama administration will be. People like Dr Doug Kmiec, a turncoat prolife scholar, Kathleen Parker, a generally cogent journalist, all seem to be taken in by the trend that Obama is not that divisive or that the GOP needs a bad defeat to resurrect.
Unfortunately for well meaning 'post partisan' conservatives like Kmiec, Parker, and the rest, Obama and his crew know this all too well. That is why they have full blown plans to make long range structural changes to make it almost impossible for any future Republican majority to do much about reforms we care about. By the time a first Obama administration is done, notwithstanding the fondest hopes of people like Dr. Kmiec and Congressman Leach, every parental consent law in every state will be repealed by Congress as will the Hyde amendment, a government run healthcare system that mandates abortion on demand till the day of delivery and afterwards will be the law of the land, and free speech rights of evangelical Christians and Roman Catholics will be curtailed under the so called Hate Crimes Act.
Get ready to have you pastors and priests dragged from their pulpits to jail by the FBI for the crime of speaking against homosexuality and abortion. That is the America that Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi envision and desire.
